  • The left-wing in South America: assessing a decade of experiences (Chair: Guilherme Reis. Room: Palais des congrès, 512g. Time: Wednesday, 23 July, 9:00-10:45.)

  • Global Governance: For Whom? By Whom? (Chair: Tukumbi Lumumba-Kasongo. Room: Palais des congrès, 518b. Time: Thursday, 24 July, 9:00-10:45.)

RC49 aims to provide a forum for theoretical and conceptual discussion of democracy, capitalism as an environment to democractic politics, and possible democratic alternatives to capitalist economic systems; the analysis of existing political institutions and practices in capitalist systems, particularly with regard to their relation to the economic structure; and the political study of democratic reform and revolutionary movements.
